How it works

How to Play the Roulette Simulator

It runs like a table in a casino: bets go down, the dealer closes them, the ball decides, and winners get paid. Here's each step.

  1. Pick a wheel

European has one zero and a 2.70% house edge. American adds 00, which takes the edge to 5.26%. French is the European wheel with La Partage: half your even-money stake comes back when zero lands.

  2. Place your chips

Choose a chip from $1 to $500 and tap the table: a number, a line between two numbers for a split, a corner where four meet, or any outside bet. Right-click a chip, or press Undo on a phone, to take it back.

  3. Use the racetrack

The oval under the table lists the numbers in wheel order. Tap a number to bet it with its neighbors, or tap Voisins, Tiers, Orphelins or Zero for the French call bets.

  4. Spin and get paid

The dealer calls no more bets and launches the ball. When it settles, a marker goes on the winning number, losing chips are cleared and winners are paid. Repeat puts the same bets back down.

Want it to feel like a live table?

Switch to Live pace and the table runs to a 15-second betting clock, then spins on its own, the way a live dealer game does. It pauses if you scroll away, and after three rounds with no bets. Turn on fast spins (the lightning button) if you'd rather the ball ran twice as quick.

Payouts and odds

Roulette Payouts and Odds for Every Bet

The payout is your profit on a winning bet; the stake comes back on top. A $5 straight bet that hits pays $175, so $180 lands back in your balance.

Red, black, odd, even, 1–18, 19–3618 numbers 1 to 1 48.6% (18 in 37) 47.4% (18 in 38)

Every bet has the same house edge on a given wheel: 2.70% on European and 5.26% on American. The exceptions are the five-number bet on an American table (7.89%) and even-money bets on a French table with La Partage (1.35%). To price a whole layout before you play it, use the roulette calculator.

The racetrack

Roulette Racetrack: Call Bets and Neighbors

European and French tables often have a racetrack beside the layout, and this simulator has one too. It lists the numbers in the order they sit on the wheel, so you can bet a slice of the wheel instead of a block of the table. Each call bet goes down as ordinary chips, and the simulator places them for you.

Voisins du Zéro

The 17 numbers either side of zero, from 22 round to 25. The trio 0, 2, 3 and the corner 25, 26, 28, 29 take two chips each.

Neighbors bets

Tap any number on the racetrack and the simulator bets it plus the numbers either side of it on the wheel, one chip each. With two neighbors, 17 covers 2, 25, 17, 34 and 6: five numbers that sit together on the wheel but are scattered across the table. Use the minus and plus buttons beside the racetrack to cover from 0 to 4 neighbors each side.

Call bets belong to single-zero wheels, so on the American table the racetrack offers neighbors bets only, and betting a call bet switches the simulator to the European wheel.

Want to see what Martingale or another betting system does to a bankroll? Try it here first. The session panel under the table counts your spins, total bet, biggest win and net result, and charts your balance as you play.

  • Martingale

Bet on red or another even-money bet and double your stake after every loss: press Repeat, then Double. Start at $5 and seven losses in a row cost $635, so the next bet ($640) is more than the $365 you have left. Each run has about a 1 in 106 chance of that streak on a European wheel. Over 100 runs, it's more likely than not to happen.

  • Fibonacci

Bet along 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13 units, one step up after a loss and two steps back after a win. Bets climb more slowly than with Martingale, but a single win no longer gets back everything you've lost.

  • D'Alembert

Add one unit after a loss and take one off after a win. It's the gentlest of the three: a bad run costs less, but you still finish down whenever losses outnumber wins.

What no system can do

Change the house edge. On a European wheel every bet loses 2.70% of its stake on average, whatever came before it, so a system only changes how your wins and losses are spread out. Martingale wins small most of the time and loses big now and then. Turn on fast spins, play 100 spins and watch the chart. Read our Martingale guide or see how the main roulette strategies compare.

The wheel and the draw

Are Roulette Simulators Accurate? How Ours Picks the Number

Parts of a roulette wheel A roulette wheel from above, with labels for the wooden rim, the ball track, the diamonds, the number ring, the pockets and frets, the cone and the turret. 1 2 3 4
  1. Rim and ball track. The ball runs round the outer track against the spin.
  2. Diamonds. Eight metal deflectors on the slope that knock the ball off its line.
  3. Number ring and pockets. 37 pockets, or 38 with 00, divided by metal frets.
  4. Cone and turret. The wheel head, which the dealer spins by the turret.

On a real wheel

The dealer spins the wheel head one way and launches the ball the other way, round the track at the top of the bowl. As the ball slows it can't hold the track, so it runs down the slope, and on most spins it clips one of the eight diamonds. Then it lands on the frets and bounces, often across several pockets, before it settles. All of that is what makes the result unpredictable.

In our simulator

A screen can't throw a real ball, so we do it the other way round. Before the ball leaves the dealer's hand, your browser's secure random number generator picks the winning pocket, and every pocket has exactly the same chance: 1 in 37 on a single-zero wheel, 1 in 38 with 00. The ball's run round the track, the diamond it hits and its bounces are then worked out so it finishes in that pocket.

What can't affect the draw: your bets, your balance, earlier spins, the wheel's position or how long you wait. The draw happens on your device and nothing is sent to us.

That's also why the results board above the wheel can't help you. Five reds in a row don't make black due. Red still covers 18 of 37 pockets on the next spin, as it did on the last one.

Eight short tasks to practice the bets you'll meet at a real table. Each one ticks itself off when you do it in the simulator, and your progress is saved on this device.

0 of 8 done

Place a split

Put a chip on the line between two numbers. It covers both and pays 17 to 1.

To do

Place a corner

Put a chip where four numbers meet. It pays 8 to 1.

To do

Place a street

Put a chip on the outside edge of a row of three numbers. It pays 11 to 1.

To do

Bet Voisins from the racetrack

Tap Voisins on the racetrack: nine chips covering the 17 numbers around zero.

To do

Bet a number and its neighbors

Tap any number on the racetrack to cover it and the numbers beside it on the wheel.

To do

Cover two-thirds of the wheel

Cover 24 or more numbers in one spin. Two dozens will do it. Watch how often it wins, and what a loss costs.

To do

Spin the American wheel

Bet on the 0 and 00 wheel and find the five-number bet on 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3, the worst bet on the table.

To do

Try La Partage

On the French wheel, bet red, black, odd, even, 1–18 or 19–36. If zero lands, half your stake comes back.

Roulette Simulator vs. Real Money Roulette

What stays the same

  • The payouts, the odds and the house edge, on the same wheel and rules.
  • Every bet on the table and the racetrack, and how it settles.
  • The pace of a live game, if you've practiced with Live pace.

What changes

  • Every loss is real money, so set a budget before you start and stop when it's gone.
  • Live dealer tables only run for real money, and each one has its own minimum and maximum bet.
  • Not every site has every wheel. Check for European or French tables before you join.

Roulette Simulator FAQs

Is this roulette simulator free?

Yes. You start with $1,000 in free chips and can top up to $1,000 whenever you run low. There's no account, no deposit and nothing to download. The chips have no cash value.

Can I win real money on the simulator?

No. Free chips can't be cashed out and there are no prizes. To play for real money you need an account at a casino, where the same payouts and house edge apply.

Is this roulette simulator accurate?

Yes. It pays the same as a casino table, and every pocket has the same chance: 1 in 37 on a single-zero wheel and 1 in 38 with 00. Before the ball is launched, your browser's secure random number generator picks the winning pocket, and the ball's path is animated to finish there. Your bets and earlier spins have no effect on the draw.

Can I play American and European roulette?

Yes, and French roulette too. European has 37 pockets and a 2.70% house edge. American has 38 pockets with 0 and 00, a 5.26% edge, and the five-number bet at 7.89%. French is the European wheel with La Partage, which returns half of an even-money bet when zero lands, cutting the edge on those bets to 1.35%.

Can I test a roulette strategy like Martingale?

Yes. Play the system by hand and the session panel under the table tracks your spins, total bet, biggest win and net result, with a chart of your balance. For Martingale, press Repeat and then Double after each loss. No system changes the house edge, but you can see how each one spreads out your wins and losses.

What is the racetrack?

An oval with the numbers in the order they sit on the wheel. Tap a number to bet it with its neighbors on the wheel, or tap Voisins, Tiers, Orphelins or Zero for the classic French call bets. The simulator turns each one into ordinary chips on the table, so you can see exactly what you've bet.

What is Live pace?

A mode that runs the table to a 15-second betting clock, the way a live dealer game does. When the clock runs out the dealer calls no more bets and spins, whether or not you have chips down. It pauses if you scroll away from the game, and after three rounds in a row with no bets.

Can I turn the sound off?

Yes. The speaker button above the wheel turns it on and off, and the simulator remembers your choice. The only sounds are the ball and the wheel: the roll round the track, the clip of a diamond and the clatter as the ball drops into a pocket.

Does the simulator work on a phone?

Yes. On a phone the table stands upright so the numbers are easy to tap, and the racetrack has its own tab. If you're scrolled down at the table when you spin, the wheel pops up so you can watch the ball.

Will my balance be saved?

No. Each visit starts a fresh session with $1,000, and reloading the page starts again. Your sound, wheel and drill progress are remembered on this device.

Can past results predict the next number?

No. Every spin is independent. A run of reds doesn't make black more likely, and a number that hasn't come up for a while isn't due. The results board shows what happened, not what will.
